17 shredders of the latest generation already in production
Interest in UNTHA's already globally successful RS model series has risen significantly since UNTHA, the Austrian premium manufacturer of industrial shredding solutions, presented the fourth generation of its 4-shaft shredders at IFAT in Munich. With a multitude of new and improved functions, this innovation quickly attracted the attention of the industry. 17 customers have already secured the first shredders of the new generation.
‘The UNTHA RS-class shredders have been contributing to the economic and ecological utilisation of many different types of ‘waste’ for decades. The technology behind these machines is constantly being further developed. At IFAT in Munich, we presented the 4th generation of this series. The versatile 4-shaft shredders are characterised by various innovations: an even more robust machine housing for a longer service life, adjustments to the cutting unit to increase throughput and even easier maintenance and servicing. We are delighted with the positive feedback from the industry and the high demand,’ says Peter Streinik, Head of Global Sales at UNTHA shredding technology.
Orders for both the compact RS40 shredder and the larger, high-performance RS100 have been received from the UK, Germany, Austria and Turkey. Projects are also being planned in Poland, North America, Spain and France. The first orders – five RS40s and two RS100s – destined for the UK were signed at IFAT before the show had even finished. These machines will be used for applications in areas such as document and data destruction, shredding of electronic waste and swarf, and product destruction. Two of the shredders are held in stock in the UK to ensure quick delivery to interested customers.
Some of the new 4-shaft shredders will be produced for the German market, including two RS40 and one RS100, which will shred coated copper and aluminium foil. These foils are used in the production of lithium-ion batteries. Another RS40 will be produced for a document shredding plant.
Customers in Turkey are also interested in the new RS models. In Turkey, the utilisation of waste for the production of substitute fuels with the XR single-shaft shredder is a major topic. However, UNTHA Türkiye is now also seeing increasing demand for UNTHA's innovative 4-shaft technology. Two RS40 shredders will therefore make the long journey from UNTHA's Austrian headquarters to Turkey, where they will be used in an automotive plant and a product destruction facility.
Continuous development and innovation
‘The appointment of our new Chief Innovation Officer Stefan Scheiflinger-Ehrenwerth shows that we are committed to continuous innovation and development. Our aim is to further develop tried-and-tested products and bring new innovations to the market so that we can always offer our customers the right shredding solutions for their requirements and areas of application,’ continues Peter Streinik. The development of new models in the RS series is already underway, with further market launches planned for 2025. Of the six RS models available – RS30, RS40, RS50, RS60, RS100 and RS150 – which enable a wide variety of different configurations, more than 5,000 shredders have already been installed worldwide.
